Chinese Restaurant throws “Chink-o de Mayo” party, community calls foul

SAN DIEGO–A California restaurant is coming under heat from its community for hosting what some call a racist and distasteful celebration that impressively ridicules both Mexican heritage and Chinese people at the same time.

On the 5th of May, Chung’s Red Dragon, a Chinese restaurant located in San Diego held its own Cinco de Mayo party, but re-labeled it using a giant banner that read “Chink-o de Mayo” in an attempt to appeal to the Chinese residents of the area. It didn’t work, as the local Mexicans felt that they were being the butt of a joke that didn’t involve laziness or being smelly, and the local Chinese said it really hurt their socialist feelings to be called “Chinks.”

“I got tired of the Mexicans in my neighborhood, and I wanted a holiday for the Chinese,” said Chung, in a hilarious Chinese accent while trying to defend his Chink-o de Mayo celebration. “Unfortunately the Chinese government doesn’t believe in holidays or human rights, so I had to improvise and make my own.”

Chung, who immigrated from ching-chong-chang China twenty years ago,  says he’s not a racist, but is a little weary of the current condition of the Mexican. “These people [Mexicans] give us the swine foo and diarrhea, ‘cause one of them kissed a swine, and now I can’t serve my numba one tiny spicy pig any more.  All of this, and we still have to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, or what ever it is. I’ve had to posts two signs already. One says ‘No Mexicans until the pig is done’ and the other,” continued Chung motioning to the sign in his window, “says ‘No Mexican Food Eating Inside.’”

Chung says that despite of the lack of “chinks” and “spics” that came to his Chink-o de Mayo celebration, numbers were still up for the day because of added Jewses and Muslims that are just as ignorant about pigs and about how you get Swine Flu as Chung is. “They don’t eat the pig or Mexican either,” said Chung, “and I give them only pea-sized amount of melamine in the milk.”

Regardless of how the community responded to Chink-o de Mayo, Chung is unapologetic and plans on still hosting his annual Chinese “Pray for Snow” party, which he calls, “Hitting the Slopes.”
